Did you ever get the feeling that you're not quite there?
That you're looking at it all but can't seem to care?
You're lonely in a crowd, surrounded by friends
You feel off beat, you can't make amends

Did you ever get lost in your thoughts for hours?
Wondering, wishing, praying to higher powers?
You're floating through life and humming the same tune
But the songs a duet, not a solo, and soon

You stop the humming and start to look around
Realizing once more you're not on solid ground
Once again you're staring at your life passing by
You shake your head a bit and give a little sigh

It's that kind of hollow best friends can't fill
That hoping that someday someone will
A longing we all have, though some hide it better
As you watch all the others who have gotten together

Did you ever get the feeling you're not quite there?
